AUS Mariners Notices — Android Application

AUS Mariners Notices (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a free utility that displays live marine safety notices issued by Australian maritime authorities. This policy explains what information the app uses, how it is handled, and your rights.

Information We Collect

The app may access the following on your device:

• Location (optional) — Used only to show nearby marine notices and local tide & weather conditions on the “Near Me” screen. Location data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
• Internet access — Required to fetch the latest notices from our API server and to load map tiles from your device’s default map provider.

Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information.
• We do not track your location or store it on our servers.
• We do not use advertising SDKs or sell data to third parties.
• We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services that identify individuals.

Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Google Maps — Provides the interactive chart/map view. Google Privacy Policy
• Open-Meteo — Provides local weather forecasts. No personal data is sent; only your approximate location coordinates are used to fetch weather for that area. Open-Meteo Terms

Data Sources

All marine notices displayed in the app are sourced from publicly available government publications, including:

• Australian Hydrographic Office (AHO) national Notices to Mariners
• Transport WA
• Port Authority NSW
• Safe Transport Victoria
• Marine and Safety Tasmania
• Maritime Safety Queensland

This data is public information. We do not modify or editorially alter official notices.

Data Retention

Marine notices are stored on our server database to provide fast, reliable access. Notices are automatically deactivated when they are removed from their source authority’s website. No personal user data is retained because none is collected.

Children’s Privacy

The app does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. It is intended for use by recreational and professional mariners.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy if the app’s functionality changes. The “Last updated” date below will reflect any revisions. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
